Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Infrared Therapy - 20 Mins.

Infrared therapy is generally safe, but not suitable for everyone. Tell your therapist if you're pregnant, have a pacemaker, active infection, open wounds, or serious cardiovascular issues. We screen clients and will adjust or decline the add-on for safety.

Infrared delivers radiant heat that penetrates deeper into muscles and tissues, increasing circulation without heavy pressure or direct heated stones. Hot stone uses surface warmth and massage pressure. Infrared is focused, shorter, and works well as an add-on to enhance muscle relaxation.

We recommend applying infrared heat at the start to loosen muscles before deep work or at the end to soothe and promote circulation. Your therapist will suggest timing based on treatment goals and any areas needing extra attention.

Many clients report reduced muscle pain and stiffness after infrared treatment due to increased blood flow and decreased inflammation. It's an adjunct—not a cure—for chronic conditions. Discuss your medical history with your therapist to determine if regular infrared sessions would support your pain management plan.

Stay hydrated, avoid heavy meals, and wear light, breathable clothing. Remove jewelry and lotions from treatment areas. Arrive a few minutes early to discuss health concerns and goals so the therapist can tailor intensity and positioning for a comfortable, effective 20-minute session.

Side effects are rare and usually mild: temporary redness, increased sweating, or slight fatigue. Overheating or burns are uncommon when administered properly. Inform your therapist about sensitivity or medications that increase heat sensitivity to minimize risks and ensure a safe experience.
